Hello Friends and Supporters,

The effects of Covid have left many businesses and shelters with minimal resources and the SPCA of Upstate New York is not immune to this.  After much thought and consideration, it is with great pride that we share that the SPCA of Upstate New York will be restructuring.  We intend to return to our organization’s historic mission of helping our local community with the neglected and abused animals,  including animals that have been left behind, those living in unfit environments, and all others that suffer from animal cruelty.

Going forward, the SPCA of Upstate New York will be utilizing our building as a housing and rehabilitation center for all cruelty cases that arise in Warren County.  There will always be a place for those that are being medically treated and cared for from these situations and investigations throughout Warren County.  We will also remain partnered with the Town of Queensbury and the City of Glens Falls as Dog Control Services and enforce the laws for Agriculture and Markets under Article 7 and Queensbury’s Town Code and Glens Falls City Code for dogs.  Although we retain a contract with Warren County, we are unable to offer a contract with other surrounding counties.  We will always be available to answer questions that other law enforcement agencies may have.

The SPCA of Upstate New York will no longer be accepting animals at the shelter outside of these specific cases.  Any animals that are in our custody from a cruelty case and have been signed over to the SPCA, and/or unclaimed dogs from dog control, will only then become available for adoption when they have been rehabilitated.

Despite the ups and downs over the years, we have been able to remain a staple in our community due to the dedication of so many supporters, caring staff, and volunteers who have all made it possible to help so many animals in need.  We hope you continue to support us in our mission to help our local animals during this new chapter of life.
